Our projects

Kibagare slums is a very poor neighbourhood with close to 17,000 residents. It is right behind a the upper class Loresho estate in Nairobi. Though Nairobi has many slums, the poverty in Kibagare is heartwrenching. There are so many shanties with no access to proper sanitation, water and other amenities.

Plan for Kibagare

Our church (Impact Church) is located in Westlands - one of the commercial centers of Nairobi. At the height of the Covid 19 pandemic we were closed for many months. The very Sunday we opened the doors in the month of August 2020, a man called James, walked in and gave his life to Christ. He was dirty, unkempt and smelling alcohol. He shared with us how he had lived most of his life on the streets. He had been a gang leader involved in all kinds of crime. He had been in jail for a long time. The next Sunday he brought his wife who also got saved. By God’s grace his life changed drastically over a few weeks. We baptised them. As the months went by he brought over 30 people from the same slum. They would all give their lives to Christ. We got so excited. The church was finally growing. We put in place a discipleship program and tried to get them job placements. Every week through our limited Impact touch kitty, we would provide transport to bring them to church as well provide some shopping items. Unfortunately, after laboring so much with this group, James their leader backslid. He got back to drugs and alcohol. With time he pulled his wife back into the same vices. Before long, all except one of these men and women were back to prostitution, drugs, alcohol and crime. We seemed like we had utterly failed.

How we got connected to Kibagare Slums

We will not give up on these souls. We love these people. I know Jesus loves them more. Our strategy of discipleship may not have worked. After consulting with different ministers, we were advised to build a program that would help disciple these people outside of the environment.

our vision

Our vision To restore dignity to the lives in Kibagare slums by ministering to them spiritually, emotionally, meeting their basic needs and training them to make a livelihood.
